UK debut of Cabaret New Burlesque, the latest in a string of hot burlesque shows to hit London. Featuring the American stars of French director Mathieu Amalric’s award-winning film Tournée about a troupe of striptease artists rising to fame in France, the show blurs the erotic in favour of humour and off-the-wall performance.
Celebrating the female body through American cultural iconography from decades gone by, Cabaret New Burlesque stars saucy ladies; Kitten on the Keys, creator and emcee on piano, ukulele and accordion, international sensation and Miss Exotic World (2004) Dirty Martini and Mimi Le Meaux mixing rock and punk with the glamour of 1950s striptease. There’s the arty Julie Atlas Muz blending burlesque and contemporary dance, 1940s-esque angel-faced (but with a devilish body) Evie Lovelle and of course, the token male - Roky Roulette, the show’s star stripper on a pogo-stick.
A whirlwind of excess (in language and body), outrageous wigs, extravagant costumes, stilletos and big songs Cabaret New Burlesque is wild, sexy and really VERY raunchy.
